Hey, here I am. Just enjoying the passage of time. Seeking that ol’ life-affirming flow state.
This newsletter isn’t cyclical – there’s some rhythm to it. But I’m still trying to work out what it is. Perhaps it’s all moon-related. For the moment, I’m just waxing/waning/happy to be here. Thanks for being here too.
Passing weather
A new season’s at the start line and change shifts everything. It whips up fresh energy and a bunch of whirlwind reactions.
It shouldn’t be a surprise. There’s been four seasons a year, every year since the dawn of time. I’m pretty sure most got accounted for.
The cumulative anxiety I could dial down though, if I was less affected by the passing weather. The whims of the clouds and the shifting light – it’s at least a thunderbolt’s worth.
How to cope? Of course there’s books to be read on Zen. And a final chance to buy shit like clogs in the sale. The challenge here is storage space. Mentally and physically.
Because however you spin it, change is gonna come. Ultimately, the sky trumps the weather. Just wear the clogs while you can.
On finding – and expressing – your voice
“Man, sometimes it takes a long time to sound like yourself.”
Miles Davis
Imitate all you like. Be influenced. You’ll eventually come back round to your unique voice. It might be incredible.
“Follow your inner moonlight; don't hide the madness.”
Allen Ginsberg
We’re all weird. Again, maybe it’s something to do with the moon.
'“First Thought is Best in Art, Second in Other Matters.”
William Blake
The only way I can function right now. Decide to create something and don’t stop. Grab the chaos and get it down. Capture it. Don’t refine to tooooo much. Use (yawn) structured thinking time for something that has objective consequences. Like (yaaay) booking a holiday. It’s what Blake would’ve wanted.
Holiday state of mind
Happiness is a place. You can’t stay, but visit often.
